the back drop for the sturdy, resilient

white birches that line the trails

full of fresh snow

the trails hold tracks of long gone skiers

the stories those birches could tell

This poem feels a bit chilly on this beautiful spring like day…I wonder what stories those birch trees would tell about today. Love the perspective shift!

White birches are my favorite- one of the reasons I love upstate NY so much. They are abundant there!
