hanging on

predawn chill

morning darkness lingers longer

squirrels scuttle gathering nuts

suns rays illuminate changing leaves

gardens dwindle and fade

birds flock, soar

dusk sneaks up leaving early darkness

evening chill

fall is here

the endless summer hydrangea hangs on

  1. You have some great lines in this: morning darkness lingers longer. It sounds just like what is happening. I notice it each day, but you put it into words. I also love “dusk sneaks up…” We’re leaving the dishes in the sink so we can rush out to our after-dinner dog walk before that dusk sneaks up. We’re all hydrangeas, hanging on to summer.

  2. Yay for the hydrangeas! I think we all appreciated beauty this summer even more than usual! Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com
