Today

It feels good to sit with kids. It feels good to watch and learn from them.

Today, I sat with Joey and I watched him say the sounds for the letters he saw. I listened and heard him say, /l/ /a/ /d/. I watched him pause. I listened as he went back and said, “/l/ /a/ /d/, lab“. I watched as the smile appeared on his face. A proud smile. I smiled back. I listened when he said, “I accidentally thought the b was a d but I said lab.” I sat, I watched, I listened, I learned.

I sat, I watched, I listened, I learned. Now, I can begin teaching and we can learn together.

  1. Your mantra is perfect. “I sat. I watched. I listened. I learned.” How wonderful that you gave your student the time and space to experience success. Love this slice.
