vintage hydrangeas
each flower, weathered by the rays and rain, holding the history of summer

budding hydrangeas
each bud, flourishing, reaching, waiting to hold the stories that summer will tell

The hydrangeas are back… love the contrast here from what was to what will be.

Love that phrase, “holding the history of summer” – last year’s hydrangeas are gorgeous; wonder if they will outdo themselves this year. It’s kind of a theme I am noticing.

I too loved that line – holding the history of summer. Mine are still asleep but hoping that they will bloom as glorious as last summer!

Hydrangeas are one of my favourite flowers, they’re just so different. I like the sense of anticipation in ‘stories the summer will have to tell’, just what will they be!?
